Potentiometers in the market are rated in term of ohms of resistance across its entire range, and the number of turns (revolutions) of the shaft from the zero point to full range.  Our most common units are 10k (ohms) 10 turns.  If you require precise positioning, you may use a potentiometer with more turns to achieve the full resistance range

If you prefer a more coarse adjustment, we can supply a pot that reaches the full resistance range in one turn.
The next variable is the stroke length and the amount of change in resistance per inch of screw travel.
The accuracy or resolution of the pot is affected by both the number of turns and the gear reduction.

Hall effect-style magnet that rotates and counts turns while potentiometer uses a linear acme screw with a magnet on the nut designed to count motion in a similar way.
These both have a digital output.

Self locking ability

1. To ensure maximum self-locking ability, please be sure that the motor is shorted when stopped. Actuators with integrated controller provide this feature, as long as the actuator is powered.
2. When using soft stop on a DC-motor, a short peak of higher voltage will be sent back towards the power supply. It is important when selecting the power supply that it does not turn off the output, when this backwards load dump occurs.

How to install the linear actuator:

1.Prepare to connect the two wires of the linear actuator to DC battery.
2.Red wire to the positive terminal and Black wire to negative terminal will make the actuator extend.
  To make it retract, just reverse the terminal connections.
3.To simplify the last step, you can prepare a reverse polarity relay or switch (not included) for the actuator.
   When you want the actuator to extend and retract, just press the switch.
4.Your linear actuator will hold its position when the power is off. It will automatically stop when reaches the end.
5.The linear actuator has pre-installed inner limit switch, it cannot be adjustable.
 

How to protect your actuator:

1.Please use the DC power adapter.
2.The actual load does not exceed the rated load.
3.All the linear actuators have duty cycle, they are unable to work all the time without stop.
4.The linear actuator is not completely waterproof, please do.
